Indoor Girls.

I enjoy a good trip outside every now and again. I love the fresh air, the sunshine, flowers, animals, trees. But technically, I classify myself as an indoor girl. I don't like bugs. And I don't like to be hot. But I have to say, Mike and Maisie are way bigger indoor girls than I am! It doesn't seem like they enjoy much about the outside world. Mother Nature is just a foreign beast to them. If Mike had his way, he would walk in an enclosed tunnel from the house to the car, and then another one from the car into his office, and never have to breathe a breath of fresh air, and that would be fine with him. I need it every now and then. I don't need to rough it...I like the finer things too, and I like luxury and comfort too much to deny myself that...but getting outside and reconnecting with nature, like a pretty butterfly floating on the breeze, or watching a big thunderstorm roll in on the horizon is necessary to my sanity.

Today we went to the blueberry field. We didn't pick any, as they had so many other things to do. Lazy farm animals were the first thing to catch our attention. It was a hot day, so no one really seemed interested in rising to the occasion.

Looking good with that diaper bag there, sir! Own it!

We found a little house to play in, with a tiny kitchen and BBQ. Next to impossible to pull Maisie away from something like that!!

Aaaannnd, it's next to impossible to pull Daddy away from his iPhone!

It was a fun trip, but the real thrill of the day happened as we had just decided that it might be time to go. A particularly persistent black fly seemed to take issue with Mike, biting him on the hand and proceeding to chase and follow him all the way back to the exit in the gift shop. He had the camera, so I was forbidden from taking pictures, but take my word for it...it was pretty funny to watch him flail around like someone with a tic.

And so, the three indoor girls have made it safely back to air conditioned comfort, only slightly worse for wear.

  1. I swear Maisie gets more beautiful by the day. And the way Michael was working the diaper bag, he might be ready for a Swagger Wagon soon!
